The internet is such a weird place with all the different hashtags on a variety of subjects. The newest one that crossed Jay’s path was #Stupid. Jay could go with it if it was talking about things being stupid, maybe even ideas, but this was guys posting pictures of themselves and tagging it as stupid. To Jay it read like they were proud to be stupid. Who the hell would be proud to be stupid?
Like most things involving the internet, Jay tried brushing it off as people trolling and then went along with his day. For the most part, it was normal. Normal work, nothing really happened. Normal conversations, normal bullshitting about the weather and whatnot. He even had a normal time on the internet during his lunch break and while procrastinating.
Nothing felt out of place until he got home and was scrolling twitter again, confused at why that hashtag was still trending, but trying to focus on what his friends and family were up to. Somewhere below the first page, Jay noticed his very intelligent but introverted friend Wyatt had posted a photo of himself, shirtless and sporting that ludicrous hashtag. Jay couldn’t believe it, this wasn’t like Wyatt at all. Jay couldn’t even think of a time where’d he’d seen Wyatt without a shirt on, going back 10 years.
